Ovendish with handle high S
The rectangular, high oven dishes have a story of their own. University students would bring their own lunch in these oven dishes and while passing by the local village bakery, they left them there to bake as they attended their classes. In this way, the students always had a warm lunch awaiting them after class. Handmade in the Portuguese Douro region, where rivers inundate the land. The sun-kissed landscape is characterised by fertile land of rich clay. Traditional craftsmen shape and mould the clay to create this sturdy earthware. Each product is decorated by hand richly or just with a few simple details. Not a single piece is alike. With this long-lasting item it is a joy to cook your favourite dish in the oven and a joy to serve your food on the table. For years of fun, both in the kitchen and as a decorative item!
care for this item
As a casserole is baked in the clay oven, it can withstand all temperatures. Wash by hand or in the dishwasher. Soak in water for a couple of hours prior to first use. After usage; dry in a warm oven or upside down in the open air, to prevent moulding.
