The iconic Malawi chair will never go out of style. Woven with a rich sense of cultural tradition, the beauty and simplicity will make a striking eye-catcher as both a dining and lounge chair. The chair is a pleasure to sit in with its comfortable proportions, making it the perfect chair for any home. The cane reeds are harvested and dried in the hot African sun. Each Malawi Chair is manually woven along the shores of Lake Malawi, passing on this craft from generation to generation. It takes up to 5 days for a skilled man to make a chair and each artisan has his own signature, shown in the pattern of his weaving. Turning the chair upside down, you will find his name engraved in the wood. The craftsmen are small-scale farmers, organized in a local co-operative, weaving in between the planting or harvesting season. Support the prosperity chain and give the artisans a sustainable income to support their families while preserving their cultural heritage. Celebrate the art of artisans!
