Each Malawi stool is manually woven along the shores of Lake Malawi, passing on this craft from generation to generation. It takes up to 2-3 days for a skilled man to make a stool, and turning it upside down, you will find the artisan's signature engraved in the wood. The craftsmen are small-scale farmers, organized in a local co-operative, weaving in between the planting or harvesting season.
