These cauri-shells travelled a long way; abundantly found in the Indian Ocean, they are collected around the shores of the Maldives Islands and Madagascar. The cauris were widely used in the past as a payment method and they increased in worth gradually, the further away they were exchanged from the ocean. The shells are carefully strung together by hand, into these beautiful necklaces.
